The Spider's Lair- Fan Art

Alexis Woodrow a.k.a. "Evil Spinnerette"
Well it's been a long time coming, but I've decided to make good on my pledge to have a category on this blog that would be dedicated to my artwork and stories. Allow me now to christen this new section of the site with a fairly recent piece of mine. I call it The Spider's Lair!

The subject is Alexis Woodrow, villain of the webcomic Spinnerette. It's a personal favorite webcomic of mine, and one that I love to do artwork for. Even as I type out this post I'm currently working on several pieces for numerous characters featured in the comic.

Alexis really stands out to me not only because of her detailed design, but also the fact that the character is incredibly nerdy. She's a D&D player at heart, an avid anime/manga fan, and takes every moment she can to relish in her antagonistic role. There is much to love about her character, and I'm always biting at the bit for when we'll get to see her show up again in the story. She is one of the first major opponents to the heroine Heather, and their initial encounter is one of the funniest moments in the comic.

(Materials used for this piece was the following: Strathmore 9in. x 12in. Bristol Board, 0.7 Draft/Matic Mechanical Pencil, 0.7 Pentel Blue Line Lead, 005/01/03/05 Micron Pens, and a Black Sharpie marker.)
