Blood Code Radio- Broadcast 5

Greetings once again DA faithful!

The latest installment to BCR (Blood Code Radio) has just gone live. I'm joined by my good friends Clear Skies, and Geoff 'Zilof' Stoop for an at length discussion about the latest release in the Shantae videogame series, along with the current resurgence we're seeing in regards to 2-D style gaming in the mainstream/independent game markets.

Before tuning in though, I'd like to disclose that Geoff and I were backers to the Shantae 1/2 Genie Hero kickstarter.

I'd also like to extend an advanced apology for the somewhat garbled sound quality on this broadcast. We were at Magfest at the time of the recording, and there was a ton of background noise due to an entire convention going on around us. Maybe next time we'll try to find a more quiet corner of the venue...

All the same, I hope you all enjoy the conversation, which you can find here. Give it a listen and let me know what you think.

Blood Code Radio- Broadcast 4

Greetings once again faithful readers!

The latest installment to BCR (Blood Code Radio) has just gone live. This show is a little different from the usual fair we typically embark on, as I discuss and reflect upon a very profound and influential film that I'm still feeling the impact from today, a whole decade later.

That movie is none other than Darren Aronofsky's magnum opus, The Fountain. It's easily one of my all-time favorite motion pictures, and for good reason. It isn't often that a lone piece of fiction moves me to such a degree that I'm forced to assess how I've been living my life, and that's exactly what The Fountain did. If nothing else, I hope this semi-indulgent piece of mine not only motivates you to watch what I consider to be a highly underrated movie, but to also keep in mind the things that matter most to you during these trying times.

You can find the link to the broadcast here. Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone, and God Speed!

Blood Code Radio- Broadcast 3

Greetings once again faithful readers!

The newest installment to BCR (Blood Code Radio) is up for your listening pleasure! I'm joined by my good friend Rob (Clear Skies) creator of the Roan RPG, who some may also know as The Game Mechanic, and we discuss/review perhaps 2016's biggest runaway hit, Thunderbolt Fantasy, from Pili Studios and Gen Urobuchi.

Slight spoilers, we absolutely loved the show, and we go into some pretty significant details as to why in the broadcast. Give it a listen here and let me know what you think!

Blood Code Radio- Broadcast 2

Greetings faithful readers!

As you can see from the title, the second broadcast for BCR (Blood Code Radio) is up for your listening pleasure. For this installment I'm joined by my older brother Justin (comic nerd extraordinaire) my roommate Matt, along with my good friends Jason (Crybringer) Robinson, Ronzo (Shonuff44) Murphy, professional DC Comics inker Joseph Sivler, and game designer Robert (Clear Skies) Morris.

Recorded shortly before the theatrical release of Captain America: Civil War, we discuss the (somewhat) current state of comicbook movies and the tales that inspire them. Even though the recording is a few months old, I think a lot of the issues tackled still apply to today. All I can say is that hopefully the genre will only continue to improve and grow.

Anyway, give it a listen and let me know what you think. You can find the newest broadcast here.

Blood Code Radio- Broadcast 1

Well here it is folks! After months of delay, I have up for your listening pleasure the very first recording done for Blood Code Radio. It isn't perfect, but I figure what better way to celebrate 100 posts than by officially launching my fledgling radio show? Hopefully I will be able to keep updates somewhat consistent, but for now we're gonna start at a relaxed pace of about once to twice a month. I don't want to overextend myself as I have in the past with other projects, so I think keeping things simple for the time being and working my way up to more bold avenues is the best approach.

For the inaugural installment I felt it was absolutely necessary to either go big, or go home. At Magfest 2016 I was able to do a sit down conversation with none other than the amazing voice-acting power couple that is Ellen McLain and John Patrick Lowrie. For those not in the know, they are prominent voice-actors who have performed in such games as Team Fortress 2, the Portal series, and Half-Life series. They are Valve regulars to say the least, but their respective bodies of work can be found all over the place. Not only do they provide their superb voice talent to videogames, both also perform numerous stage plays, on-screen roles, and even music. They are so cosmopolitan with their skills that John is even a sci-fi author (his novel being Dancing with Eternity) to which he and Ellen also did the audio-book version of.

Ultimately what I'm getting at is that they're super cool people, and once you hear them in a somewhat casual conversation, you'll see why I hold them in such high regard. I'm glad to be able to call them friends of the site, and especially now, friends of the show. With any luck I'll be able to do many more shows like this with them, as it's always a pleasure to simply sit down and talk with such a titanic duo of talent.

The topic discussed was how the presence/caliber of technology today is affecting the world of music and voice-acting. At the risk of coming off as slightly arrogant, I believe we had nothing short of a fantastic and insightful dialogue on the matter, and it brings me immense joy just knowing that I got to participate in such an incredible piece.

I do apologize in advance for the lackluster audio quality. Unfortunately I don't have the best of recording equipment at my disposal, but sometimes you've just got to work with what you have right? Clocking in at a run-time of about thirty minutes, we delve into the topic headlong, and I think by the end come to some reasonable conclusions. Hopefully you all enjoy listening to this as much as Clear and I enjoyed making it! Click the link below to see what we conjured up for all to hear!
