Morz

In lieu of my annual Matrix movie marathon, a lot of thoughts have come to mind. Recently I realized that I had yet to post this little beauty here on the blog, so I'm rectifying that now. The other is that I should see to bringing more of my characters from The Nexus to the forefront of my Ink Stains posts. It's a fiction I've been working on very intently for the past few months (as well as the last ten years) and I think it's high time that I started to share it more, or at least screen it to you guys and see what you think.

All of that aside, this character here is Morz. The influences going into her overall design are quite numerous (if I were to get into the minutia) but I would say that none were more influential than Tifa Lockhart (Final Fantasy 7) Strider Hiryu (Strider) and Sara Pezzini (Witchblade). Morz plays a fairly large role in the story, but I won't spoil all of those details just yet.

I will say though that she is by far one of my favorite characters that I think I've ever created. Originally she was going to have a bit part in the plot, but I really liked the design I gave her and felt it would be a waste to not give her more to do. Over time (and several rewrites) her role became expanded, and her personality became fleshed out, which eventually led her to the point of becoming one of the most important characters of the entire cast. Without giving away too much I will say that her primary motivation in the narrative is revenge.

The pose was inspired by the character Kuvira (The Legend of Korra) who struck a similarly badass pose. I liked the body language of the fighting stance and felt compelled to do a slightly more dynamic take on it for my gallery. Who better to do that with but one of my favorite OC's! I can only hope that you all like this piece as much as I enjoyed making it!

Materials used for this piece was a .005, .01, and Brush Micron pen for the inks. The grey tones were done with a C3, C5, and N4 Copic Marker. All done on a 9 x 12 in. Bristol board.
